With a spectacular 20+ years of world-class comedy behind her, and at least another 20 ahead, there isn’t an audience she’s performed to that she hasn’t won over to rapturous applause and peer admiration.
Within the comedy industry she’s built a reputation for writing and supporting some of the biggest Australian and International names in the business of laughter including Jimeoin (Aria Award Winner), Wayne Brady (Whose Line Is It Anyway US), Joel Creasey (Eurovision, Nova 93.7, Neighbours), Em Rusciano (Channel 10), Reuben Kaye, (Winner Best Cabaret Adelaide & Perth Fringe Festivals 2021), Trevor Ashley(Liza On an E!, Jerry Springer The Musical), The Umbilical Brothers (Entertainment Weekly’s “100 Most Creative People In Entertainment”), and the immensely popular “Effie” (Mary Coustas).
In short, Janelle knows comedy so well she could write its autobiography.
(So she did for Jimeoin and Joel).
Blending a razor wit and masterful melodies she’s a triple threat of comedy, song, and style and was one of a handful of Australian comedians personally selected for the international edition of the hit show “Last Comic Standing” (NBC).
She’s cultivated a wildly enamored fan base around the country (30,000+ followers online), she’s toured and allured, famed and acclaimed, and still delivers on every joke, line, and beat like it was fresh off her tongue (and with her skill on stage it likely was).
Janelle’s writing prowess has warranted writing dues for Australia’s biggest performances and networks including multiple years with productions “Eurovision – Australia Decides” (Logie Nominated – Most Outstanding Entertainment Program 2019), Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade (SBS) (AACTA award Best Entertainment Program 2021) and “Take Me out” (Channel 7).
Then when she is in the mood she casually transitions to the stage for lead roles in renowned musicals like “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” to over 55,000 adoring new fans across it’s run at the Perths prestigious Crown Theatre garnering reviews like “the most enthusiastic standing ovation that I have seen” (Stage Whispers 2022).
Her repertoire also extends to print and radio with long-running credits on the nation’s biggest platforms including “Janelle’s Telly Vision” (The Sunday Times), The Jam with Sam, and Janelle & the naturally popular segment “Mum’s The Word” (Mix 94.5).
Always looking to build herself and those around her she self-produced the highly successful “Let’s Hear It For The Girls” featuring a female lineup of WA talent to repeat sold-out crowds at the Astor Theatre.(2021 & 2022)
A vision of feminine comedic mastery, rest assured if there was ever an Australian Laugh Time Achievement Award for Comedy, Janelle Koenig is first in line, and without a doubt, best dressed.
